Cartoon animation

For a rich internet application (RIA) we had to design a website. The website included a cartoon builder which allowed people to make their own characters based on the different setup of clothes and body features. The different body parts had animations aswell so the users could make their own animated cartoons.

We had a lot of quality demands we wanted to implement in the cartoon builder. After researching and trying out different options we found a way to make our cartoons scalable using SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics). We also needed to animate all the different parts so we had to make all the body parts seperated from each other. At the same time we didn't want to have limited choice for our customers so we made a lot of different setups and made it possible for the user to create his or her own unique character.

Here are some examples of what we made and used to animate the characters. We did some research and saw thatit was mainly the face and the pose of a character in a comic that made an expression and would need animation. To illustrate the simple difference between face animations we created a Gandalf figure, giving him different expressions.
